Semestral program

SLH organizes a 12-week long academic and leadership development program in winter and summer semesters. The program is aimed at university students or recent graduates.
They attend facilitated discussion sessions which presuppose detailed study of the texts from the syllabi (usually in English).

In addition students are expected to write and present essays which initiate further discussions. The program includes lectures by invited guest speakers, a weekend seminar and a retreat.

Each discussion session is divided into three parts:

  • Christianity and Political Culture
  • Family and Political Order in Christian Thought
  • Natural Law, Ethics and Public Policy

The program offers:

  • Intellectual inspiration
  • Introduction to many issues from the areas of social science, philosophy, religion, theology, journalism and current social affairs
  • The opportunity to improve communication skills in facilitated discussions and writing skills in writing and presenting essays
  • The experience of a community of like-minded young people
  • The possibility of personal and spiritual growth
  • The chance to get to know important Christian intellectuals in person.

Summer School

The Summer School on Ethics, Politics and Culture is aimed at high school students in their junior and senior years. Students are invited to:

  • Learn about the great ideas which have shaped the history of Western civilization
  • Discuss controversial ethical issues
  • Improve critical thinking, dialectical and speaking skills
